Zannatul Islam Proma

Co-Founder, ABCL TECH

Zannatul Islam Proma — Co-Founder of ABCL TECH

Zannatul Islam Proma is a computer scientist, AI researcher and technology builder. She holds an MSc and a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from North South University, specialising in deep learning and neural network architectures. As co-founder of ABCL TECH, she leads the technical side of the platform — and she is also a co-founder of Visa Bangla and Chakri Bangla.

Her work spans the full stack: training deep-learning models in Python, TensorFlow and PyTorch, building large Learning Management Systems with Django, PHP and MySQL, and running the infrastructure behind national digital-transformation programmes. Her research focuses on making AI reliable in Bangla — retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge graphs and hallucination measurement.

Education & Experience

Zannatul Islam Proma earned both her MSc and her BSc in Computer Science and Engineering at North South University, concentrating on deep learning and neural network architectures. As a student she was an active member of the NSU ACM Student Chapter, taking part in competitive programming contests, programming workshops and tech seminars.

Starting in IT operations and software support, she has grown step by step into development leadership and technology strategy — building and running learning systems for national digital-skills programmes in Bangladesh.

  • Drove the overall technology strategy for a national digital-transformation programme, managing infrastructure end to end — from hardware to networks — and resolving risks and vulnerabilities before they became operational problems.

  • Led the development of a large-scale Learning Management System for a national digital-skills initiative — PHP on the front end, Python (Django) on the back end and MySQL — with code reviews and testing for zero-downtime deployments.

  • Designed and implemented key modules of a national entrepreneurship-training LMS, improving its user experience with responsive front-end work and rigorous unit testing.

  • Supported IT operations, hardware maintenance and network troubleshooting while gaining hands-on experience of the full software development lifecycle on live projects.

Technical Expertise

From neural networks to production web systems — she works across model research, back-end engineering and the infrastructure that keeps it all running.

Research

Her research asks a practical question: when can people trust what an AI system tells them — especially in Bangla, where data and tools are still scarce?

  • MSc Research · with Dr. Md Adnan Arefeen

A Comparative Evaluation of RAG and Knowledge Graphs for Bengali Legal Question Answering

An end-to-end RAG and knowledge-graph pipeline for question answering on the Bangladesh Public Procurement Rules 2025, compared on the same questions, the same gold answers and a shared set of metrics, including hallucination measurement.

  • with Dr. Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Khan

Investigating Reliability in Conversational AI Systems

A study of the accuracy, authenticity and timeliness of prominent conversational AI models, analysing hallucination rates and response validity to judge how reliable AI chatbots are.

  • with Dr. Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Khan

Student Attendance & Behaviour Monitoring via Facial Recognition

A real-time automated attendance system built with OpenCV on live classroom video, with behavioural analysis to follow student engagement without manual tracking.

Handwritten Bangla Character Recognition: A Comparative Study

A comparison of neural network architectures in TensorFlow and PyTorch for recognising handwritten Bangla characters, focused on improving accuracy and reducing classification errors.

Entrepreneurial Journey

Alongside founder Raihan Khan, she has co-founded three digital ventures — each aimed at making something complex simple, reliable and freely available to people in Bangladesh.

  • Co-Founder & Technical Lead

    ABCL TECH

Shapes the technical strategy behind “Anybody Can Learn Technology” and helps produce content that breaks down complex topics — large language models, deep learning, cybersecurity and the Fourth Industrial Revolution — in Bangla.

  • Co-Founder & Web Architect

    Visa Bangla

Developed the online visa-advisory portal, using data-driven content strategy and technical SEO to help Bangladeshi travellers, students and workers find clear guidance.

  • Co-Founder & Lead Developer

    Chakri Bangla

Architected and deployed the job and exam-preparation platform, keeping it fast and highly available, with verification checks that keep job listings reliable.

Vision & Contribution to ABCL TECH

She believes Bangla speakers deserve AI and learning tools they can trust — tools that are accurate, honest about what they do not know and available in their own language. Her research on hallucination and retrieval feeds directly into how ABCL TECH teaches AI: not just how to use a model, but how to check it.

Inside ABCL TECH she brings the engineer's view — reliable systems, careful testing and clear explanations of hard technical ideas — so that every learner, from a first-year student to a working developer, can build real skills for free.
